Multi User Hosting

Modus VR supports multi-user sessions over the internet if all participants are not on the same local network. To join a Modus VR session over the internet, the host must have port forwarding enabled. If port forwarding is not enabled, joining clients will find themselves alone in a large grassy field with mountains around them.

Note: If all participants are on the same network, port forwarding is not required. If you are unfamiliar with setting up this feature on your router or firewall, there are several guides available online. A Google search for your router model and the phrase “port forwarding guide” should yield good results. For corporate or enterprise networks, consult your IT group to enable port forwarding.

Port Forwarding Basics

Instructions:

Follow your router or firewall’s instruction set to configure Port Forwarding. Only the Host requires this feature to be enabled, the Client does not require any special settings. Once port forwarding is enabled, the Client should be able to join the session without any additional configuration.
